ENIAC: European Nanoelectronics Initiative Advisory Council

ENIAC was established in 2004 as the Technology Platform for Nanoelectronics. Its main goal was to define common research and innovation priorities to ensure a truly competitive nanoelectronics industry in Europe.

Government announces investment package for regional development

01 Mar 2010

The Government underlined its commitment to economic development across the English regions today with a £64.4million package of new investment announced by Lord Mandelson. The funding will be distributed by the nine Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) to support a range of new initiatives in key industrial sectors, including green energy provision, low carbon manufacturing and Research & Development support for science and innovation.

As part of this the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) will invest £7.4 million in developing next generation components for fuel efficient aircraft engines.

UK CAA grants Qualified Entity status to the UK's EuroUSC™

UK based European UAV Systems Centre Ltd (EuroUSC™) have been granted ‘Qualified Entity Status’ by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for undertaking on behalf of the CAA, the assessment of Light Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) in respect of Design, Construction and Operation. André Clot, EuroUSC™ Director and a member of the A&D KTN's Autonomus Systems NTC, stated that the granting of this ‘Qualified Entity Status’ is a significant step forward for the emerging Light UAS Industry.

Duty Free Imports for manufacturers

British manufacturers could save millions of pounds in import duties through an EU scheme promoted by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). Companies that are unable to source the materials they need to manufacture their products from within the EU could be eligible to import those materials duty-free by applying to the EU Duty Suspensions & Tariff Quotas Scheme.
